2023 Fishing Derby

Grab the kids and join us for a “fin-tastic” day of fishing and fun at the inaugural Fishing with Firefighters, a FREE Fishing Derby for kids! Hosted in partnership with Bass Pro Shops and Central County Fire Rescue, this exciting event is casting the net to bring smiles to young faces and create unforgettable memories.

Time:
- Ages 0-6 – 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Ages 7-11 – 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Ages 12-16 – 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Grab your fishing gear and prepare for an unforgettable adventure on the water. This free fishing derby is exclusively designed for children from ages 0 to 16, providing them with a unique opportunity to experience the joys of fishing in a safe and supportive environment.
Your professional firefighters will be on hand to ensure everyone’s safety and provide guidance and assistance to budding anglers throughout the event. From casting techniques to knot tying, we’ll share our expertise and passion for fishing, helping your youngsters learn valuable skills while having a blast.
The fishing derby will feature a pond stocked with over 400 catfish just for this event. Children in older age groups will have the chance to reel in their big catch and compete for exciting prizes, with attendance prizes for all. Whether they’re novices or seasoned anglers, all skill levels are welcome to participate and show off their fishing prowess.
But that’s not all! Beyond the thrill of fishing, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy, including a bounce house, snacks, refreshments and BBQ throughout the day, ensuring your young anglers stay energized and hydrated during their fishing adventures. Our partners with the Missouri Department of Conservation will also be organizing educational sessions on fishing lessons and water safety, emphasizing the importance of responsible fishing practices and respect for the environment. The World Bird Sanctuary will also be with us, providing demos throughout the day.

Registration is required to participate in the fishing derby, and our website requires a minimum $1 donation when registering. We will refund your $1 donation when you arrive if you’d like that back. We sincerely appreciate any additional donation you wish to make to the CCFR Community Outreach.
