Central County Fire Rescue Community Outreach
No child should go hungry. During the school week, our local schools provide free or reduced-price lunches to children in need, but there is still a very real need for these children to have a healthy lunch on the weekends. That’s where the CCFR Community Outreach steps in to provide weekend meals, ensuring their weekend is not spent being hungry or malnourished.
For several years now, CCFR Community Outreach has participated in the Big Kahuna Bartender Challenge, a fundraiser to support Community Living. Serving over 1,100 children, adults, and their families, Community Living is a local non-profit that works to enrich the lives of people with disabilities so they can achieve their highest potential. Check them out at www.communitylivingmo.org
As we’re out in the community and see a need, we meet it. Handicap ramps, fixing/replacing heaters in winter, helping flood/Fire victims with recovery, groceries for the single mom struggling to make ends meet, whatever the need we’re looking for the solution.
Using our custom BBQ trailer, we regularly cook for the residents of our local senior communities and provide food for various charitable organizations throughout the year…like the golf tournament fundraiser to support the Fort Zumwalt Grad Night…providing a safe place for graduating seniors to celebrate.
Over 1700 people attended our 2019 Hunt, where we gave away over 10,000 eggs. This free event is open to the community and serves to build strong relationships with the residents we serve.
Every Christmas, the CCFR Community Outreach supports area children by serving as a collection point for community donations of Christmas presents. Every year, Santa makes a visit to the firehouse. By appointment only, a limited number of parents can bring donated gifts and receive a personalized visit with Santa for their children. Off-duty firefighters staff this event.
The CCFR Community Outreach has supported the St. Peters Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program for over a decade, personally delivering nearly 8,000 hot meals to home bound senior citizens and providing over $100,000 in continued financial support through our annual Trivia Night Fundraiser. For more information about this program, visit www.stpetersmo.net/senior-center.aspx
F.A.S.T. provides support and resources for families of children in foster care in St. Charles county, and we partner with a local business - Permanent Vacation Tattoo - to provide an estimated $6,000 in toys every year. No child should have to go without a coat! Working with the elementary schools in our fire district to identify children in need of cold-weather clothing, we meet the need…no matter the number of kids needing help.
